This collection of 14 review papers, ostensibly aimed at pathologists, has great value for the clinician. The two organs of major attention in this third issue of Pathology Annual are the kidney and the lung. Renal topics include "membranous nephropathy" (Ehrenreich and Churg); renal artery stenosis (Crocker); hypoplasia and dysplasia (Bernstein); malignant nephrosclerosis (MacMahon); and—especially valuable for the house officer and trainee in nephrology—evaluation of percutaneous biopsy (Pirani and Salinas-Madrigal). W. M. Thurlbeck and R. P. Sherwin review chronic obstructive lung disease and quantitation in pathology of pulmonary emphysema, respectively. Two more papers with special value for the clinician are
