Bard's Medical Physiology has served as one of the standard textbooks of physiology for many years. With this edition the editorial responsibilities are passed to Dr. Mountcastle who is also Dr. Bard's successor as Director of the Department of Physiology at Johns Hopkins. The new edition is some 550 pages longer than the previous one and bound in two volumes. Volume I covers all topics, except neurophysiology, in 1,000 pages. Volume II gives a thorough treatment to the various aspects of neurophysiology in 850 pages of text. Both volumes contain an identical index of some 38 additional pages thus making
