The second edition has the addition of Dr. J. E. Lennard-Jones as a joint author. The orientation and emphasis of this book are directed toward the practicing physician with many excellent discussions of various disease states. The text has 24 chapters that include discussions of symptomatology, physiology (including the biochemistry of absorption), pathology (including the malabsorption states), anomalies, tumors, peptic ulcer disease, and inflammatory diseases of the bowel. Throughout the text there are excellent photographs of microscopic sections and of roentgenograms. These photographs will be of additional assistance to the clinician.
