Current concern about crime and violence is certain to lead to more thought, research, and writing about crime and the offender. Although its title is ambiguous, this volume discusses both the mentally retarded and the emotionally abnormal offender. It consists of apparently verbatim records of The Ciba Foundation Symposium on the Mentally Abnormal Offender held in London in July 1967. The panel members were well-known criminologists from Europe and the United States representing the social sciences, psychiatry, and law.
