Two cases of pernicious anemia associated with polyendocrine deficiency are described, and previous instances of this syndrome are reviewed. Such cases may strengthen the possibility of a true association between pernicious anemia and endocrine disorders. The high incidence of circulating organ-specific antibiodies noted in these cases provides the one common link between these several apparently unrelated diseases and supports the concept that autoimmune mechanisms are important in their pathogenesis.
