To the Editor: In a previous letter (Ann. Intern. Med. 68: 1373, 1968) we raised the question of Pneumocystis carinii being found outside of the lung and the need to use special stains to demonstrate the organism. Dr. S. Jarnum and associates, about whose case report (Ann. Intern. Med. 68: 138, 1968) we had raised the question, were kind enough to send the slides and a block of tissue for our examination.
