This retrospective statistical study was designed to describe and attempt to interpret the mortality from specific causes of death of diabetic patients in Oslo, Norway. Its presentation in this monograph consists primarily of a variety of tables showing ratios of actual to expected deaths by various causes along with description and interpretation of the data contained in the tables.
Diabetics selected for the study had been discharged from their first admission to hospital in the period 1925 to 1955 and traced to death or to discharge anniversaries in 1961. For study purposes they were classified into three groups by reason
