Teachers of clinical medicine are finding that they must allow more time for their students to learn the facts of normal form and function of the body. This occurs because changes in the curriculum that anticipate clinical experience leave little time for the student to learn "preclinical" facts of anatomy and physiology before coming to the bedside. Perhaps this change is for the good since much of the anatomy and physiology that is needed has been developed by clinicians rather than by laboratory workers.
