To someone only vaguely familiar with the artistry of Frank Netter, the publication of this new atlas of cardiovascular illustrations is likely to be considered just another pharmaceutical advertising extravaganza or commercial enterprise with a hodge podge of throw-away drawings. In fact, a good number of the sketches have been seen previously, but the collected series is interesting and exciting. One of the surprises of this work is its enveloping, overall look at the field of cardiology. Indeed, this is not just an assortment of assembled illustrations, as the title would imply, but a documented and narrated textbook permeated by
