Clinicians have looked hopefully for methods of providing adequate caloric and nutritional intake by the parenteral route. For many years the science of intravenous feeding has received a good deal of attention throughout the world. Investigators in England have been consistent leaders in this field, and this book is another indication of their continued interest and leadership. For those actively working in the field of intravenous nutrition this is a very complete and worthwhile book. For the practicing physician portions of the book, particularly Chapter 8 on Design of an Intravenous Diet and Some Practical Observations, are of particular interest.
