To the editor: In the July 1969 issue, Dr. Deaton has taken exception to your recent layout innovation regarding starting articles on a separate leaf. In response to your question, I am a binder of the ANNALS. But I am, conversely, a ripper of journals in general, and it seems that one good article is frequently followed by another, which creates a problem when they share the same page; and the separate page idea certainly makes for a neater format.
However, more important is the question regarding the "filler" so easily cast aside by Dr. Deaton. God knows we have
