Hepatic transplantation in man is being increasingly performed, largely due to the painstaking ground work laid over the past decade by Dr. Thomas E. Starzl and his colleagues at the University of Colorado. At present, their survival rate for 25 patients having hepatic homotransplantation is 24%. Such figures make the operation a practical proposition, and it is therefore timely that their experience is now published in this lavishly produced monograph.
