In this book the author attempts to summarize vascular surgery. The different surgical techniques used are well illustrated and discussed, particularly those pertaining to the arterial occlusive and traumatic diseases. The medical diagnostic aspects are too briefly discussed, and the value of some recent developments in diagnostic techniques like ultrasound and thermography is not presented. The presurgical evaluation of the elderly patient with coexisting chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, coronary artery disease, or other chronic ailments is not properly emphasized. The chapter discussing mesenteric ischemia is excellent, but the chapters on pulmonary embolism and coronary artery disease are too brief. The
