Short textbook built on an unusual framework. The division of topics is not by organ system but by the main clinical manifestations of disease: chest pain, arthritis, edema, jaundice, and so on. However, the usual steps in diagnostic logic based on history and examination are omitted for a direct analysis of the use of tests in diagnostic differentiations. The text is generally sound although sketchy in many details. Barely adequate as an introduction for the student; perhaps useful to the physician for a quick review but not as a reference.
