During the next decade the medical profession is likely to become reinterested in the science, practice, and teaching of nutrition after a considerable decline in orientation toward this most basic aspect of health. Overpopulation with resulting concern for adequency of the food supply, an increasing demand by new generations of medical students for participation in community health problems in which malnutrition often plays a major role, and exciting research in uncharted fields such as trace elements in clinical medicine all contribute to this probability.
