Dr. Ask-Upmark, distinguished Swedish physician, has culled from his vast experience a series of observations designed to assist the physician in his bedside approach to the patient. The author does not deny the necessity and the value of the laboratory but emphasizes that the important approach is the study of the patient himself. In this respect the book has the flavor of its American counterpart with the same title authored by Drs. Snapper and Kahn.
Dr. Ask-Upmark has limited his discussion to some selected topics. These cover a wide spectrum; there are short essays on the hand, the foot, the
