Modern diagnostic chest X-ray film interpretation is a combination of a methodical visual search of the film and an application of scientific principles to analyze the findings and interpret them into an anatomical diagnosis. This much is an extension of physical diagnosis. The final reading of the film is often a list of the possibilities and probabilities based on a sketchy bit of historical and laboratory data supplied to the radiologist.
Drs. Rubin and Siegelman would have the patient's physician and the radiologist combine their talents to help make a definitive diagnosis. In this volume they go to considerable effort
