As indicated by the author in the preface, this book is designed for the undergraduate and represents a prodigious undertaking. The style of presentation, as in previous editions, makes for delightful reading. Modern references, some as recent as 1969, have been added to many of the sections, and other older references are retained.
Part I is generally sound. The chapters on the cell, internal environment, and immunity have been modernized, complete with electron microscopy.
Part II of the book is devoted to regional pathology and suffers from monolithic authorship, for in this day of specialization it is not possible to
