Although the reverse seems indicated by the layout of the main title, the emphasis in Doctor Pace's small, soft-covered monograph is in favor of "Clinical Practice" rather than "Pulmonary Physiology." It is a quick, highly readable review of major concepts of pulmonary physiology and the basic instrumentation as they apply to the practice of medicine as well as of the rationale behind pulmonary function tests. It is delightful to note the absence of jargon, which can easily deter the uninitiated in any specialized field; chapters on language and formulae are at the very end of the text for those who
