Dr. Lichtenstein is one of the leading authorities on bone tumors. In the 1950's his text on bone tumors was my favorite textbook. Subsequent revisions of this book have not dimmed its brilliance as an instrument for teaching an important subject. The same, however, cannot be said for his new text. The subject of diseases of bone and joints is large, perhaps too large, for a single author to encompass in 228 pages. Yet others have had success, such as the late Douglas H. Collins (Pathology of Bone, London, Butterworth & Co., 1966, 251 pages).
