The authors have created a useful list of diets in the treatment of chronic renal failure. Sample menus, interchangeable foods, and convenient analyses of the protein, mineral, and caloric values are the book's virtues. One objection may be raised. The only source for low protein flour listed is Great Britain. Similar flour is available domestically. The ice cream diet (2 qt/24 hr) undoubtedly will brighten the day for some patients. Dialysis centers may find it helpful to distribute copies of the equivalent food lists and sample menus if they do not already have their own. Our dietitians rate this book
