Treatment of acute myocardial infarction in coronary care units has had significant success over the past half decade, with a resultant 50% drop of mortality rate for in-patients. In this relatively brief but comprehensive monograph the authors present their concept of the organization and function of the coronary care unit. Introductory chapters deal with the natural history of patients with acute myocardial infarction and some problems of designing, equipping, and staffing a coronary care unit.
