The eleven papers in this symposium were aimed at comprehensive discussion of present practice and future needs in the teaching of surgery. Much of the ammunition could be fired just as easily at teaching in other domains of our schools. These essays on objectives and means (curriculum and organs of school functions) are recommended to all teachers, not only academic surgeons, in schools and hospitals.
