To the editor: I wish to point out a confusion of nomenclature in the December 1970 issue of the ANNALS. To describe renal histopathology Rapoport and associates (1) define glomerular lesions as either generalized (involving all glomeruli) or focal (involving some and sparing others) and as either diffuse (extending throughout the involved glomerulus) or segmental (affecting only part of an involved glomerulus). Thus, each lesion is uniquely described by two terms, one from each pair of descriptors. This terminology is simple and straightforward and was obviously acceptable to the editor. Yet in the very next article Baldwin and colleagues (2)
