Because the enigma of thromboembolism confounds virtually all medical and surgical practices, this scholarly book will be well received by the profession. The contributions of a pathologist, a physician, and a surgeon are well integrated into a very readable text, which progresses logically from basic experimental studies to specific therapeutic details.
Although it is very complete in review and has an excellent bibliography after each of the twenty chapters, it is not primarily a reference book. It should be read or at least skimmed from cover to cover. In this way one can obtain perspective into the many controversial aspects
