To attempt to write a comprehensive review of the major bacterial and parasitic infections of man, to survey the therapy of these infections, and to include a discussion of the pharmacology of the drugs involved is a very ambitious undertaking, especially by a single author. The book reviewed here is just such an attempt.
It is a comprehensive review of the infectious diseases as well as an in-depth discussion of the pharmacology of antibiotics and chemotherapeutic agents. Unfortunately, it is not successful. It is far too comprehensive for clinicians, which results in the book being overlong and difficult to read
