In four males and three females from 12 to 28 years of age "chronic hepatitis" was diagnosed on the basis of clinical manifestations and hepatic function tests indistinguishable from those generally associated with this diagnosis. From 3 months to 4½ years after the onset of hepatic illness, development of neurologic manifestations in three of these patients, the appearance of Kayser-Fleischer rings in a man, the persistence of the hepatic disorder for 4 years in another boy, and the diagnosis of Wilson's disease in a girl's sibling led to the suspicion of this disorder in each of the seven patients.
