Dr. Leake brings a new printing of his well-known translation to a new generation of students and cardiology fellows with a new, fifth preface that surveys recent Harveian studies. This well-produced, reasonably cheap edition of De Motu Cordis is nicely suited to reading by students and physicians. Dr. Leake's generous footnotes relate Harvey's views both to those of his predecessors and to research of our century in cardiovascular physiology. He does not assume that his readers will necessarily know anything of Harvey's contemporaries or near contemporaries. The index is very helpful to the reader who wishes to find specific topics
