To the editor: In the article by Borromeo and Wilson (Ann Intern Med 74:242-244, 1971) the authors record an abnormal aortic pulse during regular sinus rhythm (their Figure 1). The aortic pulse recorded during atrioventricular dissociation, however, was found to be normal (p. 243 and legend of Figure 2) when associated with a normal atrioventricular relationship—a situation that I assume is identical to regular sinus rhythm. What is the explanation for this?
