The metaphor, "We are pygmies looking from the shoulders of giants," is brought home as we read this monograph. Jan Nyboer is the genial giant recounting his personal history of his work on biological electrical impedance and of the people who have helped him. His ideas, insights, and hopes regarding the future of this field are of interest to anyone entering it. His extensive knowledge comes from his having been the seed for so many of the references he supplies (over 450).
