A memorandum recommending a provisional and internationally acceptable classification of hyperlipidemias and hyperlipoproteinemias has appeared in a recent issue of the Bulletin of the World Health Organization (1). The recommendations are the product of an informal meeting convened in Geneva in June 1970, by Dr. Z. Fejfar, Chief of the WHO Section on Cardiovascular Diseases. The other participants included Drs. J. L. Beaumont from Paris, L. A. Carlson from Uppsala, G. R. Cooper from Atlanta, T. Strasser from Geneva, and myself.
