To the editor: In the August issue of the ANNALS Drs. Strauss, Argy, and Schreiner, in their article "Diabetic Glomerulosclerosis in the Absence of Glucose Intolerance," describe a patient who developed electron microscopic evidence of diabetic nephropathy in the presence of normal glucose tolerance as tested by conventional modalities, with the exception of an abn ormal cortisone glucose tolerance test. They state there was a positive family history for diabetes mellitus, and this, coupled with an abnormal cortisone glucose tolerance test, strongly suggests the possibility of latent diabetes mellitus.
