Few books have had as great and lasting an impact on the development of medical mycology as Manual of Clinical Mycology. When first published in 1944 by Conant, Smith, Baker, Calloway, and Martin, it literally had a revolutionary effect. These authors selected and condensed the vast body of medical and mycological information on the mycoses and presented it in a lucid and practical manner. A subject that had seemed so intricate and esoteric that only a few could master it was revealed to be straightforward and assimilable.
