The medical manual provides a ready resource for the busy practitioner who seeks "know-how" but not necessarily expertise in a selected subject. In this concise summary the authors establish clear protocols for diagnosis and treatment of obsterical and gynecological patients with septic shock. The pithy treatment of the subject is both its strength and weakness. Many lists of clinical and laboratory features and therapeutic interventions are presented, but at times these lack sufficient explanation for an understanding of the problem or recognition of other valid points of view.
