A 22-year-old man, with the malabsorption syndrome, had deficiencies of both humoral immunity and cell-mediated immunity. Terminally, he developed multifocal neurological abnormalities. Postmortem examination showed progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy, thymic hypoplasia, and abnormal lymph nodes.
