Attendance by more than a thousand at the Second Annual Symposium on the Problem Oriented Medical Record System in Atlanta this year indicates the widespread interest in guidelines for structuring the patient record. The goal of the first, 1971 conference was to review the basic principles and techniques of the system. The Problem-Oriented System, a collection of papers presented at this earlier meeting, fulfills this purpose.
