To the editor: My attention has been called to Lester S. Dewis's review of my book Stroke Rehabilitation in the June issue (Ann Intern Med 76:1056, 1972).
I write about his last paragraph in which he indicates that the usefulness of my text may be limited because I describe the comprehensive Veterans Administration stroke rehabilitation program that I was in charge of for many years, a program that would have limited value to physicians in private practice. May I make two points in reply?
The physician should know what can be done with stroke patients where there is an adequate stroke
