Any physician who is treating a patient with lithium or contemplates prescribing it should read this monograph. As the title indicates, the rightful use of lithium salts is in psychiatric therapy. There are several established indications for its use especially in the treatment of mania and as a prophylactic in manic-depressive (bipolar) illness.
