There is perhaps no area of medical therapeutics more varied than the management of the cardiac patient, ranging as it does from the use of a preparation known for centuries to the application of a direct current electric shock to the precordium. Therefore, the task undertaken by the authors, "to offer the practicing physician a practical book concerned with the management of the adult cardiac patient," is formidable.
