In the last decade hemodialyzer design and technology has been refined greatly, access to the circulation has been simplified by the arteriovenous fistula, and routine hemodialysis, unattended or patient-operated, has become commonplace. This text, largely a collection of papers presented at the 1970 Meeting of the Association for Advancement of Medical Instrumentation, is intended to be a complete, practical textbook on hemodialysis.
