Although its name has been changed slightly, this book is the direct descendant of the classic volume on coagulation by Biggs and McFarlane, last published in 1962. Whereas the previous work was written and compiled almost entirely by the two authors, the new volume consists of chapters written by 17 outstanding scientists (including Biggs and McFarlane, of course), which are edited by Dr. Biggs. Necessarily, some uniformity of style is lost, but the final product has a fresh and still-scholarly impact.
