A generation of coronary care nurses grew up by reading Intensive Coronary Care—A Manual for Nurses, which Meltzer, Pinneo, and Kitchell prepared in 1965. Its familiar yellow cover is a fixture in hundreds of coronary care units in both hemispheres. In response to those physicians and nurses who have considered the manual too much of a "cookbook," this new work may justly be viewed as a "gourmet guide."
