Part one of this book deals with principles of antibacterial chemotherapy, mechanisms of action, and specific agents and classes of agents. The second part describes the therapeutic approach to a variety of infections. This second edition has two new chapters, one on pulmonary infections and one on urinary tract infections.
Although this work was designed for practicing clinicians (in or out of hospitals) and senior students, a number of deficiencies indicate to me that it will not serve either group well. The book is quite out of date, despite having been published in 1972. It is poorly organized; the clinical
