It is most unusual to find a book published in 1973 that is not only current but should serve as an excellent reference source for a decade. The author, an academic pediatrician with extensive experience in the care of children with leukemia, has written the first text, to my knowledge, devoted exclusively to the diagnosis and management of childhood leukemia. The book's 14 chapters cover such topics as morphology, preleukemia, infections, and nervous-system disorders. Each chapter is extensively referenced; I counted more than 1600 references, many of them published from 1970 to 1973.
