In February 1972 a symposium "Antibiotics After Thirty Years" was held in Birmingham, England, under the sponsorship of the Midland Medical Society and the Board of Graduate Studies of the University of Birmingham. The symposium was organized to celebrate 30 years of clinical use of antibiotic agents and was designed to promote a dialogue between physicians and microbiologists related to antimicrobial chemotherapy. Forty major contributors (mostly from the United Kingdom) participated. The book appears to be a transcript of the papers presented and the subsequent discussion, with little editing.
