In their preface Drs. Simpson and Magee indicate that this book is primarily for medical students. The entire book is written in such a way as to stimulate without talking down to the reader, be he medical student or practicing clinician. The style is clear without being excessively simplistic and, within the stated limitations, complete without being cumbersome.
The brief section on medical history should have been expanded to include questions regarding the propensity for vascular disease and exacerbating factors such as diabetes and hypertension. Questions eliciting family history of epilepsy and headache also should have been included. The neurologic
