A new, single-authored textbook. Of particular value are the clear and cogent opening chapter, "Making a Diagnosis," and the short Chapters 18 and 19 on vascular and "medical" causes for acute symptoms; the rest of the text is, however, a good source for a review of differential diagnosis of acute disorders in the abdomen. The price seems to be excessive in view of the small number of halftones and relatively larger number of line illustrations.
