This, the fourth English edition of Advances in Nephrology, continues an excellent series, which links the investitions and concepts of nephrologists who publish in French and those who publish in English.
The first half, an exposition of complement in glomerulonephritis, is a fine summary of current knowledge. The classical and alternate pathways of complement activation are reviewed extensively, as is their relation to tissue injury in general and to the inflammatory process in glomerulonephritis.
