Those physicians who practice medical genetics look forward to each new edition of Dr. McKusick's book. Previous editions appeared in 1966, 1968, and 1971.
The book is a catalog of phenotypes (genetic traits and syndromes). Each entry includes a brief description and a few pertinent references. Because the text of the book has been produced by computer, constant updating of content has been possible and references through 1974 can be found in this edition. Phenotypes are categorized as autosomal dominant, autosomal recessive, or X-linked. Within each category they are listed alphabetically by preferred designation and given a number. Some persons use
