Studies of the degree of retention and accuracy of verbal directions to patients show that neither is nearly as marked as they should be, a matter which should be of no small concern to physicians in this era of unprecedented litigiousness on the part of patients claiming foul-play. This is a good time for the appearance of the second edition of Dr. Griffith's Instructions for Patients, now trimmed from over 600 to under 400 pages, mostly by decreasing type size. The price has been raised from $25.00 for the first edition in 1965 to $32.50.
